IoTAS is unique in being the UK’s only independent Recognised Test Organisation (RTO) for interoperability testing, against the requirements of the Global Certification Forum (GCF), as well as a Third Party Assessment Capable Entity. The GCF is an independent certification scheme for mobile phones and wireless devices that are based on 3GPP standards. All device testing associated with GCF Certification must be undertaken by an RTO and the RTO accreditation identifies GCF Members that have demonstrated they possess the experience, qualifications and systems to assess mobile phones and wireless devices against the GCF’s Certification Criteria.
IoTAS is a founder member of GCF Ltd and actively participates in the GCF Field Trial Agreement Group (FTAG) responsible for developing and maintaining criteria for Field Trial test scenarios.
GCF Field Testing evaluates the performance and behaviour of a terminal on a number of live commercial networks, both in static and dynamic radio environments, the latter of which cannot be achieved by simulator tests under laboratory conditions.
IoTAS are the preferred supplier of GCF Field Trial solutions to a number of tier 1 terminal manufacturers due to our GCF Recognised Test Organisation (RTO) status and global presence.
Being an RTO means IoTAS have UKAS 17025 accreditation which not only shows we are able to conduct GSMA TS.11 GCF Field Trials encompassing GERAN, UTRAN, eUTRAN and IMS test cases, but we are able to conduct these tests correctly and consistently as demanded by the GCF.
IoTAS have vast experience executing GSMA TS.11 and OMA tests on devices ranging from handsets, embedded modules ahead of integration into end-user products and on development boards from semiconductor manufacturers interested in proving the reliability of their solutions ahead of launch in commercial devices.
No matter your device, IoTAS can help you execute all the required GCF live network Field Trial test cases.
Due to the knowledge IoTAS have in terminal certification, not only in Field Testing and IOP, but in other areas such as Conformance and Regulatory, IoTAS have registered as a GCF Assessment Capable Entity (ACE).
In the role of ACE, IoTAS can advise a GCF Associate Member which testing needs to be completed and review the results in order to gain certification of their terminal.

IoTAS is also a GCF Recognised Test Organisation (RTO) for conducting Interoperability (IOP) testing which extends the testing on terminals supporting end to end and application features more extensively
IoTAS’s RTO scope for GCF IOP certification means we can conduct testing for:
IoTAS is also a GCF Recognised Test Organisation (RTO) for conducting IMS testing, which is the common service platform for deploying communication services over IP technology (e.g. VoLTE, VoWiF and RCS). IoTAS can complete the interoperability testing and interworking with other Operator network deployments.
VoLTE stands for voice over Long Term Evolution. Utilising IMS technology, it is a digital packet voice service that is delivered over IP via an LTE access network.
Voice calls over LTE are recognised as the industry-agreed progression of voice services across mobile networks, deploying LTE radio access technology.
VoWi-Fi is a complementary technology to VoLTE and also utilises IMS technology to provide a packet voice service that is delivered over IP via a Wi-Fi access network. Where possible, VoLTE calls may be seamlessly handed over between LTE and Wi-Fi and vice versa.
Enriched calling with RCS (Rich Communications Services) refers to calls that have enhanced features delivering an Advanced Communication experience, beyond voice and SMS. It provides consumers with instant messaging or chat, live video and file sharing across devices on any network
