5G Mobile Operator Networks have arrived and, whilst the roll out isn’t instant, there are many global locations where blisteringly fast connectivity speeds are available. Handsets, devices and user equipment with 5G are already commercially available and legacy hardware may also be capable of reaping the rewards of superfast communication speeds.
5G NR (5G New Radio) software, as defined by the 3GPP industry association, which runs on 5G compliant technologies, not only supports traditional Mobile Operator services but shall also support private mobile networks such as Mission Critical Communications (Blue Light) and the burgeoning Internet of Things.
It’s one thing having access to a 5G superfast Operator Network but is your 5G device truly compliant? Does it have full interoperability? Has it been tested, gated and certified to an appropriate industry standard?
As with many other 3GPP devices being developed and launched it is vital to ensure that your product complies with the guidelines and ‘rules’ that the Network Operators enforce, otherwise you could very well be prohibited from using their network. This is where IoTAS, a fully certified GCF approved RTO and ACE can support you by offering the reassurance of correct network functionality through a complex testing programme, drawing upon our knowledge of Live Field Trials, global Operators, network infrastructures and other similar technologies.
All testing is performed in accordance with the latest approved guidelines and methodology as dictated by the GSMA’s TS.11 (Device Field and Lab Test Guidelines) and the subsequent certification Tests of the GCF. This is a link to the latest list of 5G GCF Certified Products (Please note: items listed may not have been tested by IoTAS).
For example, IoTAS Australia have recently (Q3, 2019) been conducting pre-approval trials for a 5G device manufacturer on Australia’s mobile networks.
